An Empty Glass
The room was dark; the only light came through a window that was open. The window was the only one in that seemingly empty home, dust was a sheet that was keeping everything covered, safe; it acted as a protector that helped with the wind, it blew off but always settled back down. In the middle of the room sat a table, it was surrounded by elegant chairs worn down by the elements, but every chair still carried the impressions left by those who had once sat there. The table was made by dark colored wood, maybe walnut, and had the water stains from the glasses which had water run down the glass and collect on the dark wood, distorting the grain and wood work.
At the end of the table past the masses of chairs and chandeliers, was an empty glass. It was out of place, but it found its home settled on a stand by the once bright red couch. The empty glass shone in the light from that one window, it was a classy glass, one of high standards, one for a drinking party or a little social gathering. The light was reflecting the dusty, grungy, and aged glass that had once been used many times; that empty glass had an air of abandonment, nothing was around it, it was alone. The room passed through the night in a haze of navy blue, but once the sun light shone through , it was no longer the room that I spent my time watching; it had a new slate, it held a new beauty and no memory of the night before had remained.
